Oktai Iusibov (Azerbaijan, Finland), the co-founder and the head of production at Plastilin Media OY animation studio, based in Imatra, took part in the ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival for children and adults as a jury member. The 6th edition of the traditional ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival for children and adults, organized by the Azerbaijan Animation Association was held at the Nizami Cinema Center on September 6-10, 2023 with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The international jury of the festival includes six foreign professionals: Isabelle Favez (Switzerland), Ismail Iman (Azerbaijan), Ana Chubinidze (Georgia), Oktai Iusibov (Azerbaijan, Finland), Olivier Catherin (France) and Tehzeeb Khurana (India). The festival will be attended by special guests from Europe and Asia, including directors and animators from Europe and Asia: Masud Panahi (Azerbaijan, Germany), Kireet Khurana (India), Matthew Lyon (Canada), and Michaël Dudok de Wit (The Kingdom of the Netherlands, United Kingdom). Out of 174 films submitted from 46 countries, the selection committee has accepted 39 films from 13 countries for the competition program. The non-competition program featured the ‘Made by Women for Women’ program, Oscar-nominee ‘Red Turtle’, and the Oscar-winning ‘Spirited Away’ feature films from Japan’s Ghibli Studio, as well as the award-winning best Indian animation films. The professional program offered a presentation of local animation film projects, as well as master classes, meetings, and workshops with special guests and international jury members. Oktai Iusibov is a co-founder and the head of production at Plastilin Media OY (Finland). He is also a co- founder of Alove Animation Studio (Azerbaijan), boasting over 17 years of comprehensive experience across all facets of animation production. His portfolio includes involvement in award-winning TV shows and animated movies like “Sheep’s Hotel,” “Red Iron Road,” “Lex and Plu Taxi Drivers,” “Kid-e-Cats,” “Sonya from Toastville,” and various other notable projects.
